Avenues Independent School
While our priority deadline for admission has passed, we continue to welcome applications to Avenues Independent School for the 2021-2022 school year on rolling and limited basis.
Welcome! We are excited about your interest in Green Acres School and look forward to meeting you and getting to know your family. In preparation for submitting an application, please look at our admission process outlined below, according to grade. If you have questions about any of the required materials, please reach out to the Admission Office!
Are you offering tours at this time
We have been fortunate to meet many families for outdoor-only tours throughout the admission season. If you have not already been on one of our outdoor tours, we invite you to come visit! This is completely optional, but with the warm weather and our expansive outdoor spaces, springtime provides a wonderful opportunity to explore our campus. Masks required; two-person limit per family.
You can apply online, or print and mail an application to the school. The R500 application fee may be paid online with a credit card or you may send a check with your application payable to Green Acres School.
Once we receive your application and fee, we will reach out to you to schedule a parent interview, as well as a time for your child to have a conversation and one-on-one assessment with one of our teachers.

The interview, which is for parents only, offers opportunities for you to ask additional questions about Green Acres and to share information about your child.
While students applying to Grades 1-4 visit for a full day with their current peer group, we recognize that this will not be possible while our campus is closed. In lieu of a visit, applicants to grades 2-4 will get to know one of our teachers via a video conversation, which will include a one-on-one assessment of your child's math, reading, and writing skills.
Once you submit an application, we will contact you to set up a date and time for this conversation.
Applicants to 1st through 4th grades are required to submit the results of a recent admission evaluation. This evaluation may be administered by an educational diagnostician of your choice.

It is important to note that your child may be tested by any qualified tester you choose, whether or not they are on the attached list.
Please arrange to have your child’s complete current year and previous year's school records and two student recommendation forms (completed by your child's main teachers) sent directly to the Admission Office at admission@greenacres.org. (Email is preferred, but regular mail or fax is acceptable, as well.)
We also accept recommendation forms from The Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington (AISGW).
